The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is an significant partner in the community in which it resides. We seek to benefit the community by making resources available and offering our expertise where needed. Some of the services we provide include:
Surbeck Scheduling
The School of Mines makes facilities available for meetings, events, and conferences, as well as summer lodging for the Sturgis Rally.

Youth Programs
Camps and programs are arranged every year to help introduce area students to the world of science and engineering. Programs are fun, interactive and social, and tailored to elementray, middle school or high school audiences.

Devereaux Library
The Devereaux Library, see campus map, houses thousands of printed works, government documents, magazines and journals, online research databases, maps, videos, audio books, and more, and is also a federal Patent and Trademark Depository Library.
Area residents may purchase a library card at the Circulation Desk.

Museum of Geology
The Museum of Geology offers world-class displays of rare real fossils and minerals, as well as educational tours and family events, and it's always free to the public A Rapid City tourist stop as well as a significant home to important regional geological artifacts.

Jobs and Employment

Media Resources

You don't have to be student, faculty or staff to enjoy sports events at the School of Mines and cheer on the Hardrockers. Football, basketball, track, cross country, golf and soccer.

Music, Arts and Entertainment
The music program at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology provides our multi-talented students with a creative outlet. Concerts and chorales are popular community events (find information here). Always keep an eye on the SDSM&T calendar for other open-to-the-public offerings like lectures, art exhibits at the Apex Gallery, and even the occasional Drama Club play.

Black Hills Business Development Center
While not a SDSM&T entity, the Black Hills Business Development Center is located on the campus (see campus map) and the school works closely with the center on some projects.
