Christy Horn
Vice President for University Relations

Christy Horn joined the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology as vice president for University Relations in 2011. She directs the Marketing and Communications efforts of the university, including online and print production, media relations, advertising, outreach and event planning, conference services and works with the Foundation on fundraising initiatives.

Patricia Mahon, PhD
Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Students

Dr. Patricia Mahon (pronounced “Mann”) has worked in the field of higher education for more than 30 years. Her areas of expertise include: enrollment management, student development theory to practice models, emergency management preparation - including flu pandemic planning, and current student issues in higher education. She is Co-Founder of the Campuses Community Prevention Coalition (CCPC) addressing high risk behaviors of young adults.

Ronald White, PhD
Vice President for Research

Dr. Ronald White provides leadership in expanding the South Dakota School of Mines' growing research enterprise; providing administrative oversight, leadership and mentorship in the development and implementation of campus-wide research and graduate studies that are integrally linked to the university's mission. His long experience in working with federal agencies and multi-disciplinary programs are essential to the future plans for research growth at SDSM&T.

Kelli R Shuman
Director, Human Resources

Kelli Shuman became Director of the Human Resources department in 2011 and has been with the School of Mines since 2005. She has direct responsibility in providing strategic HR services, and oversees departmental operations including workforce administration, compensation, classification, recruitment, employee relations, workers' compensation, training and development, and serves as the campus Title IX/EEO Coordinator and investigator.

Richard Kaiser
Athletic Director
|
Richard (Dick) Kaiser leads the athletic program at the School of Mines, fostering an environment of quality instruction and an emphasis on both scholarly and athletic achievement. He plays a key role in athletic fundraising, maintaining crucial relationships with boosters and community leaders. He oversees all of the operations within the athletic department, including intercollegiate athletic sports; recruitment, selection, development, and retention of coaches and staff; health of student-athletes; and leadership and management of daily operations of the athletic department.
