Kelli Shuman
Director of Human Resources
With a proven record of exemplary service, Kelly Shuman, director of human resources, provides transformational leadership, advice, and support to the School of Mines workplace. Her extensive knowledge of the university and established relationships with the campus community are integral to maintaining the School of Mines' high level of excellence in the recruitment, development, and retention of talent for an increasingly expanding and diverse academic community.
Shuman began her career in human resources with the School of Mines in 2005. Initially hired as personnel assistant, she was promoted to assistant director of human resources within 18 months. Shuman became associate director of the department in July 2010. She continues to further the strategic initiatives the human resources department has begun to implement in conjunction with the university's recently-completed strategic vision and plan: Mines 2020.
She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and human resource management from Black Hills State University, and completed her master's degree in administration with a specialization in human resources from the University of South Dakota in December 2011.
