
Timothy Henderson
Vice President for Finance and Administration
With a breadth of expertise in executive leadership, financial and strategic planning, and support operations, Timothy Henderson provides exceptional direction, coordination, and budgetary guidance for the School of Mines. In his role as vice president of finance and administration, he manages all fiscal affairs of the university, including developing and executing a multimillion dollar budget, planning and initiating commercial development, developing campus master plans, fostering legislative interactions and constituent relationships, and overseeing campus renovations.
After earning a bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota, Henderson began working in insurance sales and adjusting for National Farmers Union Insurance in Sioux Falls, before moving west to accept a position as a public accountant at Francis L. Killer & Co. in Rapid City. Henderson then served as a financial manager for Old West Regional Commission until 1981, when he joined the Mines community as director of financial services, serving as controller and director of the business office.
In 1988, Henderson was promoted to vice president of finance and administration, concurrently serving on the executive council, university cabinet, and a number of professional and community organizations, including the business affairs council of the South Dakota Board of Regents, the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
Henderson received his bachelor of science in business management from the University of South Dakota in 1977 and is a 2011 alumnus of the Higher Education Management Institute, Harvard Graduate School of Education.
