Activities and Organizations
Virtually all majors on campus are associated with a student chapter of a professional organization, and we encourage students to participate. For industrial engineering and engineering management, students should consider joining:
The Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE)
The Institute of Industrial Engineers' primary purpose is to foster both
a professional and social atmosphere within the industrial engineering
program. The Hardrock Chapter of IIE sponsors half-time activities at
athletic events, attends national conferences, and more. Students interested in joining IIE should contact the chapter president or Dr. Jensen.
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. Students interested in joining SWE can contact chapter president Andrea-Marie Babbs or faculty advisor Jennifer Karlin.
Student Innovators for Free Enterprise (SIFE)
Get involved in a newly formed chapter at SDSM&T. Students interested in joining SIFE should contact the chapter president or Dr. Kellogg.
