Math 498 Undergraduate Research / Scholarship

Course Description

(1-0) 1 credit. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor. Includes senior project, and capstone experience. Independent research problems/projects or scholarship activities. The plan of study is negotiated by the faculty member and the student. Contact between the two may be extensive and intensive. Does not include research courses which are theoretical.

Couse Learning Outcomes

A student who successfully completes this course should be able to:

  1. identify appropriate steps to conducting research in mathematics or applied mathematics
  2. make use of proper notation and vocabulary as it relates to their research problem
  3. make use of proper notation and vocabulary as it relates to the research problem
  4. present the research problem to a knowledgeable audience
