Summer Camp: Fossils

Fossils . . . Molding . . . Casting . . . OH MY!

If you are into paleontology enough to work in the field alongside professors and graduate students, then this is the day camp for you. So, roll up your sleeves and get ready to prep, collect, mold, and cast fossils for examination in our state of the art Paleontology Research Lab.

The resources in our James E. Martin Paleontology Research Laboratory makes offering this unique camp possible. You will live on campus and literally walk the path of paleontologists in the Black Hills and Badlands! The curriculum is designed and taught by full-time engineering and science faculty members. You will discuss science and engineering careers with South Dakota Mines faculty members and alumni and visit work sites where you might use your expertise should you decide to take your studies further.

Students will get a chance to assist Mines faculty in fossil collection. Campers' discoveries will be credited and stored in the Mines' collections indefinitely - your very own documented contribution to the study of paleontology!
