USA Science & Engineering Festival
At the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, we are invested in reaching, teaching and preparing the future scientists and engineers that will serve the region, the nation and the world. Many people are aware that science and engineering careers can be
lucrative -- but, even more important, they are meaningful. They engage the individual in a lifetime of asking profound questions, finding essential solutions, and taking part in society's most significant advancements.
As a part of our outreach mission, we are an academic partner of the USA Science and Engineering festival. This is a national grassroots effort to advance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The organization sponsors a huge national Festival, that has been held in 2010, 2012 and 2014, and its many partners offer associated science events in their own communities to make science come alive for students and parents interested in knowing more. 4th USA Science & Engineer Festival
The 4th USA Science & Engineering Festival, the largest science festival in the United States, features nationwide contests and school programs during the 2015/2016 school year. The Festival culminates in a 2-day Grand Finale Expo on April 16-17, 2016 in Washington, D.C.
SDSM&T sends a team of student and faculty scientists to participate in the festival. (More to be added on our current plans when the event is nearer.)
