Video Game Making™ (VGM)
Date: July 14-17, 2014
Learn how to design and modify your own exciting arcade style video games! Students learn how to control characters, objects and game outcomes by using basic programming skills, creating and assigning actions and timing events. Learn the entry level ideas behind creating avatars, rooms and levels. Graphic Design further develops your game. Graphic animation topics will also be explored.
What makes Video Game Making™ great?
This class teaches students how to design their own version of PacMan and several other arcade video games! Along with having a blast at this half-day session students get to explore concepts including:
- Developing high score tables
- Challenge students problem solving abilities
- Entry level computer science theories
- Incorporates basic technical vocabulary
Video Game Making™ introduces students to the idea of 'building' virtually with the traits of an Engineer in a classroom setting. They get the opportunity to work with design challenges and use their imagination and creativity just like an Engineer!
