TLC Tutoring at Mines
Unexpectedly low grade on an exam? Struggling with homework? The Tech Learning Center (TLC) is here to help. We offer free tutoring services given by upper-level Mines students who have already completed the courses they are tutoring and are familiar with instructors' expectations.
TLC provides tutoring in all core subjects – math, chemistry, computer science, English, physics, and biology – at the 100 and 200 levels. Other areas and levels depend on tutors' areas of expertise.
Located in the lower level of the Devereaux Library, room 110, next to the elevator.

What to Expect
For students with documented learning and physical disabilities, the Assistive Technologies (ADA) Lab is available through Counseling and ADA Services at (605) 394-1924 or through the Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Development office at 605.394.2416.
What should I expect?
Peer tutoring is a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can ask any and all questions about your class. Tutors can not only help answer your questions and clarify the material, but help you develop better study skills and methods of approaching the course. They can explain concepts in a completely different way than your professor, which can help you grasp the material. However, tutors get busy around exam time so remember to plan ahead!
Anything I should not expect?
Tutors won't have a lesson plan prepared, nor will they do your homework for you, so come having already attempted the homework at least once. In order to best benefit from your tutoring appointment, have specific questions prepared, so tutors can focus on areas where you need the most help. Your tutor won't recap lectures either - tutoring isn't a substitute for going to class!
Tutors are students just like you, and don't always have all the answers. If you're looking for an expert in the field, it may be better to ask your professor or TA.
