RAPID CITY, S.D. ---- South Dakota School of Mines newest
men’s basketball recruit Travis Schock becomes the third member of the Schock
family to become a Hardrocker joining his older brother Justin (junior) and
father Jayson (1985-89).
“We are very excited to have Travis in our program,” said
Hardrocker men’s head coach Jason Henry. “He’s very athletic. He is arguably
one of the best athletes to come out of the state of North Dakota in recent
years. His team did very well throughout the year and was ranked as one of the
top teams in (North Dakota).”
Travis is a 6-foot-3-inch guard who averaged 21 points, 4.5
rebounds and 2.1 assists per game a game as a high school senior for the West
Fargo Packers. He also tallied 463 point s in his final season which was fourth
highest in school history. Travis has also been selected to play in the Lions
All-Star Game as an All-State Player from North Dakota.
“Travis will bring not only his scoring ability to the
Hardrockers but also his ability to guard top offensive opponents.”
While attending South Dakota Mines, Travis plans to pursue a
degree in Computer Science.
