Veteran's Benefits
The Veteran's Club is here to assist U. S. military veterans and dependents of veterans to receive educational benefits through the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Completing Application for GI Bill Benefits
A person applying for VA benefits needs to complete a VA 22-1990 form. Along with this form, a certified copy of the DD-214 for prior active duty and a NOBE for National Guard is required to process the application. The Veteran Services Office on campus also needs the applicant to complete a Veteran information sheet to insure the student is certified for the correct number of credits. For more information about veteran benefits visit www.va.gov.
Completing Application for Chapter 31 Employment Program to include Full Pay for Formal/Post Secondary Training
We encourage all Vets with a compensable service-connected rating (Meaning Vet must have minimum rating of 10% rating) to apply to Chapter 31, which is also known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment.
Chapter 31 is an employment program, but we have great latitude in services provided to facilitate suitable employment for our Vets with service-connected disabilities to include the ability to fully pay of formal/post secondary training.
To apply, Vets must complete VA Form 28-1900, which is available at our office. Vets can also apply on line at www.va.gov, which has a link for Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment.
Once a Vet applies, application is processed at our Regional Office in Sioux Falls and then sent to us in our Out Based Office in Rapid City. Veteran must be determined to have an employment handicap or serious employment handicap for entitlement to be present.
We only administer Chapter 31 with other benefits such as Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill) administered out of St. Louis
