Surbeck Center is an auxiliary of the university. This means that it does not receive any state funding for operations or maintenance/repair. A portion of the money needed for operations and maintenance/repair is appropriated by the SD Mines Student Association from the General Activity Fee. Additional funding is provided through other auxiliary entities (the Rocker Shop Bookstore, Dining Services and Residence Life) and through room rental fees charged to external users.
