Faculty, Staff and students at SD Mines are assigned a computer account to aid their job and/or course work at SD Mines.

These accounts will remain active until the you have left the school or you violate the ITS terms and conditions agreement.

File Server/Network Account: (allows you access to fileserver resources, email, and your H: drive storage).

File server/Network access and Exchange email services are controlled through Microsoft Active Directory. The password and username for both these accounts is the same.

Logging In:

To access your office computer or tablet, start by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL. The login screen will appear. Proceed by entering your 7-charater ID number (for students)  or first initial and up to 7 letters of your last name for faculty/staff as "Username" and your password that will be supplied to you by your supervisor for employees. Students' default password is 8-digit birthdate and full ID number. If you are asked to input a Domain, use "SDSMT" (no quotes)

Changing Your Password:

To change your network account password using a machine connected to the campus network, start by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL after you are logged in. Next, click the "Change Password" button and follow the instructions on the screen.

Storage Space:

This account allows you 10 GB of storage space on H:. A personal web site is allowed on this directory. The url will be http://webpages.sdsmt.edu/~your_username_here.
