keep your information current;
inform us of any substantial changes
that would impact work on the new site (new degrees, programs,
department names, etc.), and
- request help, as always, if you run into problems.
We'd like to keep work on the old site to
the minimum necessary, but realize it still has to serve its purpose
until the new website is available.

09/18/12: UPDATE: School of
Mines New Campus Website - 09/18/12 Update
For those who wonder if it's more myth than reality, University
Relations and ITS want you to know that their work continues on the
NEW CAMPUS WEBSITE.
Receipt of the initial Ektron templates occurred in late July,
with testing and modifications in early August. For the last 30
days we have been learning how to use this new content management
system and are transferring content. The website will be delivered
in four implementation phases.
In the first phase, the content that now exists on the current
Estrada site is moved to the new site and reorganized to enhance
the experience of user audiences. Standalone sites that are
currently separately branded (e.g. CAMP, Devereaux Library,
Bookstore, Athletics, Apex Gallery, most of our research labs and
centers) will remain as is for the time being.
Phase I: completion is estimated for spring
semester 2013 with a target for the end of January. At that time
the new site will be launched and available to users. Until the new
site is launched, we appreciate your continued patience while we
balance work on the new site with maintenance and updates to the
existing site. For the next few months, it will be a juggling
act.
Phase II: (brief)
After initial launch, we will begin phase of training department
personnel to use the new content management system (CMS). Set-up
publishing workflow and approval processes as needed.
Phase III:
Bring aforementioned standalone sites into the Ektron CMS; focus
on mobile, social media and eCommerce module.
Phase IV:
The site will go through continuous quality improvement and
vetted from a strategic marketing standpoint. Our goal will be to
evaluate web metrics and increase internal use of site (i.e. log-in
areas for flow of information between faculty/students)
For those who currently update information on the
existing site, we'd ask you to:
keep your information current;
inform us of any substantial changes that would impact work on
the new site (new degrees, programs, department names, etc.),
and
request help, as always, if you run into problems.
We'd like to keep work on the old site to the minimum necessary,
but realize it still has to serve its purpose until the new website
is available.
