Title:
Undergraduate Research Symposium
Description:
Mines students will showcase their research endeavors at the fourth annual Undergraduate Research Symposium held Tuesday, April 2 in the Surbeck Center on campus.

 

Open to the public, oral and poster presentation sessions will occur from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., covering diverse topics ranging from the development of surrogate human heads for experiments involving shock waves to water reclamation to detecting astroparticles with a neutron monitor.

 

Following the presentations will be an award ceremony in the Surbeck Center Ballroom for the participants, judges, session chairs and department heads from 5:30-7 p.m. Guest speaker, Doug Wells, Ph.D., dean of graduate education and professor of the physics department at the School of Mines, will share his research entitled, “Photo-nuclear Isotope Production – My Little Tale of Obsession and Opportunity” at the ceremony.
