
RAPID CITY, S.D. - The 2013 International Electro/Information Technology Conference, sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Region 4, will be hosted Thursday-Saturday, May 9-11, on the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology campus.
The conference, which has attracted nearly 100 registrants, will focus on research in the fields of electrical and computer engineering, physics, computer science, industrial engineering and mathematics, including cyber security, robotics and intelligence systems and renewable energy materials.
Keynote speakers are:
· David Nghiem, founder, president and CEO of Global Wireless Technology, Inc., will be the Friday keynote speaker from 8-9:30 a.m. He will speak about cell phone issues and solutions.
· Richard Gowen, president and CEO of Dakota Power, LLC, and former SDSM&T president, will be the Friday luncheon speaker from noon-1:30 p.m. The topic of his talk is "Trusting Autonomous Systems."
· R.J. Trew, National Science Foundation (NSF) director for the Electrical, Communications, and Cyber Systems Division located in Arlington, Va., will be the Friday evening banquet speaker from 6:15-9 p.m. He will speak about electrical and computer engineering research program at the NSF.
· Craig G. Rieger, Idaho National Lab Distinctive Signature Lead, will be the Saturday keynote speaker from 8-9:30 a.m. The topic of his talk is "Resilient Control Architectures and Systems."
· Madjid Fathi, director of the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, University of Siegen, Germany, and visiting scholar with the University of California, Berkeley, will be the Saturday luncheon speaker from noon-1:30 p.m. The topic of his talk is "Approaching Knowledge Technology for a Significant Word Association."
In addition to providing a forum for students, researchers and industrial investigators to exchange ideas and discuss development in these growing fields, exhibitors will showcase the latest electro/information technology tools and products.
