
RAPID CITY, S.D. (March 8, 2013) - The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Chapter will host the second annual Women's History Month luncheon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 in the Christensen Hall of Fame at the King Center on campus. The luncheon is open to all female students, alumnae, faculty and staff, and the media is invited to attend. Admittance is free for female students and $11.00 for faculty and staff.
The event will feature guest speaker Jessica (Chretien) Muxen, a 2010 industrial engineering alumna who is currently working towards a master of science in engineering management. A member of Alpha Pi Mu, the industrial engineering honor society, and recipient of the National UPS Minority Student Award, Muxen works as a staff engineer in the Water and Natural Resources Division for RESPEC Consulting and Services.
Founded in 1950, the Society of Women Engineers is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.
