At Fall Convocation, the School of Mines' United Way campus fundraising goal of $25,000 was announced by President Wilson.
Faculty and staff members are encouraged to make a contribution, whether large or small. Our goal is to have 100% participation on campus this year. Contributions can be a one time gift or made through payroll deduction on a monthly basis. Even small donations provide meaningful assistance: $1 will provide four meals to a hungry family…$5 a blanket to a disaster victim…and $30 will provide a book a month to a Black Hills region preschool child for an entire year. You don't know who in the community your donations help, it may be a neighbor, a co-worker, or even a family member.
Anyone who makes a pledge to United Way is invited to join President Wilson for coffee and donuts on Friday, September 13 from 8 – 10 a.m. in the O’Harra Conference Room. If you haven’t returned your pledge sheet prior to that date, please feel free to bring them with you then.
Everyone who submits a pledge sheet by close of business on Friday, September 13 will be entered into a drawing for 10 prize packages--each containing a t-shirt donated by Hardrocker Football, Student Activities, or University Relations as well as one of the following items:
- $25 gift card for Java City or the Miner’s Shack donated by Mines Dining Services;
- $25 gift card donated by the Bookstore;
- $25 Dakotah Steakhouse gift card;
- $25 gift card that can be used at Red Lobster, Olive Garden, or Longhorn Steakhouse;
- Malachite mineral sample donated by the Museum of Geology;
- Bobble water bottle;
- Hats donated by Hardrocker Football; or
- Drawstring backpack.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call Christy Horn, Vice President of University Relations, at 394-1733. If “Each One Reaches One” by making a donation, large or small, to our United Way campus campaign this year we can meet our goal of 100% participation. As you can see, every individual gift counts!
