Welcome to Residence Life at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology! Over 850 students call our residence halls home while at SD Mines. We provide housing for all students who have graduated from high school in the past two years (

Welcome New Students: Spring 2016
Congratulations on your acceptance to the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. This begins a whole new phase in your life — all of us in Residence Life are looking forward to welcoming you to your new home! To help will make your transition to Mines as easy as possible, we have prepared our New Student Website just for you. This page, along with the rest of our website, should help prepare you for your big move to Mines. PC Commons Courtyard Upgraded
The PC Commons Courtyard renovation has been completed! Students can now enjoy sitting outside in our renovated space--complete with fire pit. Upgrades also include bike shelters, all new furniture, and new landscaping.
Placer Hall: Opening Fall 2016
Residence Life is proud to announce the building of our newest residence hall -- Placer Hall. This new six-story building is being developed for second-year students and will offer 50 suite-style units, each with a living room and a bathroom. Half of the suites will consist of 2 double bedrooms, the other half of the suites will have 4 single bedrooms. Community lounges, kitchens and group study spaces will also be provided throughout the building. Placer Hall is being built by the SD Mines Foundation, who in turn, will lease the building back to the University. This new hall will put housing capacity at almost 1,100!
