people describe her as quite, outgoing and respectful.

Playing at Algona High School in Iowa, Stephany was
unanimously named to the All North Central Conference first team.
She earned second team honors both her sophomore and junior seasons
and was an All District Region IV selection and earned Coaches
Association All District honors as a senior also. |
Personal: Stephany is the daughter of Tom and Linda
Bjustrom. She enjoys watching football and likes to ski and go
boating. Stephany feels she brings to the Hardrockers the desire to
win, enthusiasm and the three ball and help at the guard positions.

Melanie enters her senior season as the sixth all time
scorer for SDSM&T. Last season she earned DAC MVP honors for the
second straight year and was also named to the NAIA All-American
First Team as well as the DAC first team. She also broke the 1,000
point barrier as a Hardrocker.

Personal: Melanie is the daughter of Al and Deb Vedvie.
When not playing basketball she loves to show cattle and water ski.
Her advice to young people is the harder you work, the luckier you
get. Her favorite foods are steak and potatoes and along with being
a talented hoops star, she also excels in track, taking second at
the state meet in the 800-meter run in high school.

Loryn comes to South Dakota School of Mines from
Pierre, S.D., where she was an accomplished hoopster. She was the
top rebounder for the Lady Gov's her junior and senior years, was
named most inspirational last season and after her team finished as
the Class AA runners-up last spring, Loryn was named to the all
tournament team. She also earned all conference honors as junior and
senior as well. |
Personal: Loryn in the daughter of Todd and Leesa
Schuetzle. She claims to be very artistic and completely obsessed
with her favorite band "Kings of Leon." Loryn bring energy and
presence to the Hardrockers and her craziest ambition is to own her
own bakery some day. The woman athlete that Loryn admires most is
Megan Vogel (bball player from SDSU) and her advice to kids is to
mimic your idol then put your own spin on their moves.

In high School Kayla was a Lady Cobbler for Rapid City
Central where she was named the top basketball and volleyball player
overall. Her senior season she also earned best defense and top
rebounder. She was named to the 2006 SD All Star Team and was a
member of the Class AA State All Tourney team as well. |
Personal: Kayla is the daughter of Don and Fay Ludens and
Doug Goshorn. She brings good chemistry and hard work to the SDM
women's squad. Kayla loves to be apart of the team. Her advice to
kids is not to settle for less that you deserve.

basketball court as well as the volleyball court. She has been an
impact player for the Hardrockers even though she is unable to join
the team until the end of the volleyball season. As a senior Jennie
will provide leadership and experience as the 'Rocker begin their
journey. |

Bethany fit very well into the Hardrocker scheme as a
freshman and after a year at the college level returns with more
experience and should be a force to deal with in the paint this
season. While playing in high school, Bethany was a four-time
Northeast Conference team selection and three-time Wyoming All Star
Team member and the 2006 NEC Player of the Year.

Personal:
Bethany is the daughter of Brad
Holyoak and Joanie Harwood. A big highlight for her last season was
when she made the winning shot in a home game against Minot State.
Bethany loves reality TV shows and her favorite food is Mexican. The
athlete she admires most is WNBA star Becky Hammon. Bethany loves
basketball because it givers her a chance to accomplish goals as a
team and she loves everything about the game.

Jerika is a true all around athlete, receiving various
honors in not only basketball, but also volleyball, softball and
track and field. During her high school basketball career she was a
four-year varsity letter winner, four-time first team
all-conference, four-year all region team, an MVP, three-time all
state and all state academic team to name just a few. |
Personal: Jerika is the daughter of Jim and Lisa Ihnen.
Jerika describes herself as outgoing, funny and athletic. She brings
a positive and fun attitude to the Lady 'Rockers along with
aggressive post play and a great work ethic. Jerika was named Miss
SD Pre-Teen runner-up in 2003 and she was also a cheerleader in
seventh grade. Her advice to young people is to not label yourself.
You don't have to be a "dumb jock" or a "band geek" and you don't
have to hang out with only that group of people. |

Amber enters her senior season after an excellent
junior campaign. The highlights for her last year was defeating
Northwestern College and making it to the DAC tournament
championship game. Amber has steadily improved since she was a
freshman at Mines and her senior season should prove to be her best
yet. |
Personal: Amber is the daughter of Kevin and Shirley
DeWeerd. She brings hard work and leadership to the SDM team and
Amber loves to compete. She is descried as being athletic, nice and
optimistic. Her advice to kids is work hard and you'll achieve your
goals.

Jessica comes to South Dakota from Arizona where she
played basketball for the Tuba City High School Warriors. She
graduated third in her class and was the team MVP as a senior. She
was also an all state selection and was a member of the state all
tournament team. |
Personal: Jessica is the daughter of Raymond and
Minnie Tsignine. She is a Native American with Navajo and Hopi
decent. She is the only girl in her family who's been to Africa and
she enjoys basketball because it is fun and it keeps her busy and
focused. Jessica is described as being funny and quiet and if she
were to win the lottery, she said she would invest the money ... and
do a little shopping.

really wants to the ball in her hands. Her advice to youngsters
would be always give 100 percent and earn what you get.

Nicole saw some quality minutes for the South Dakota
School of Mines team a year ago. One of the highlights to her year
was making it to the DAC tournament title game. In high school,
Nicole was named the most improved her sophomore season, was listed
in the Top 10 for blocks and Top 20 in rebounding. |
Personal: Nicole is the daughter of Rick and June Martin.
She is described as being hyper, hyper hyper and what drives her
about basketball is the competitiveness. Nicole has a twin sister
but is a little taller than her double. Nicole loves to cook and
bake. Her advice to kids is do what you love and love what you do.

Leah made quite an impact as a freshman for the Lady
Hardrockers. She had a very productive season in the paint and even
showed her range as being able to hit the three. Her favorite
highlight from last season was watching assistant coach Maria
Caldwaller jump off the bench, eight months pregnant after Bethany
Holyoak made a game winning shot against Minot State. |
Personal:
Leah is the daughter of Lynn and
Melisa Sundby. She claims to be very sarcastic and is described as
being kind, vibrant and personable. Her advice for kids is to keep
your goals in sight and pursue them. Leah brings a positive attitude
a smiling face to the Hardrocker squad and she can't really imagine
her life without basketball in it.
