NAIA National Track & Field Results

South Dakota track athletes Nick Bitz and Dain Patterson competed in the NAIA National Track and Field Championships, May 25-27, hosted by Simon Fraser University in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

Bitz, a junior from Custer, SD, entered the national meet ranked fourth in the discuss after his record setting throw of 169'5" at the SDIC Championships.  Bitz finished in 11th place with a throw of 154' 11", 7" behind the 10th place finisher.  Jason Wood of Lindenwood finshed 1st with a throw of 185'.

Dain Patterson, a senior from Wall, South Dakota, also competed.  Dain recently won his second SDIC Championship in the 100m in a time of 11:04. 

In the NAIA Championships Patterson ran an 11:22 in the preliminaries.   He ended up finishing 19 out of 29 runners.  Serge Bengono from Huston-Till. won the event in a time of 10:48.   

Bitz is a mining engineer major while Patterson majors in mechanical engineering.
