Thurston Design Group, LLP is a 16-member architecture and construction project coordination firm based in Rapid City, South Dakota, USA. They offer professional design through construction administration services in the High Plains region, including the states of South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Colorado. Occasionally, they have provided consulting services outside of this geographical region as well.

Although they are well-known throughout the region as a design oriented firm, Thurston Design Group, LLP is also noted for the excellence it provides clients in the areas of construction documentation and administration

Currently, at the site of the new dorm sits the exisitng Surbeck Student Center. The center itself will be seeing some remodeling, but the majority of this construction project will be to remove what is now the student organization and corporate recruitement areas to make room for the attatchment of the 300 bed dorm. The project is being managed by the Fred Thurston Design Group LLP of Rapid City. Scull Construction has been awarded the general contractor bid.

Project Construction will begin in March of 2003. At a total cost of $5.342 million dollars the dorm will include a variety of living arrangements not seen before on campus, such as two room suites with half baths. Also a key new feature is the consolidation of primarily student related adminstrative offices such as the Dean of Students, cashiers, dorm mail processing, campus safety, and Director of Residence Life. In the basement will be the new home of KTEQ, the student run radio station along with Student Association, Ivanhoe Center, Multi-Cultrual Affairs and the Activity Director.
