Fundraising & Race Management
Fundraising is critical to ensuring the completion of the solar car. We are taking a three pronged approach to the issue. First, we will submit proposals that will be sent to companies from which we are soliciting donations. Second, through the SDSM&T alumni office and the SDSM&T foundation office we will compile a list of alumni that we will contact either by phone or mail asking them to support the team. Finally, we will be implementing the adopt-a-cell program to try and raise both local and statewide support for the team.
Race Management is a background position during the construction of the car. Making sure that the team knows about any and all rules and regulations that may apply to the aspect of the car they are building is critical. Gaining information about the upcoming race and being available to help the team in any way possible is also another duty of this position. A basic understanding of all components of the car is crucial when the race arrives so that, along with the team leader, the race manager can help to coordinate the team in the field of competition.
