Shock Hazard
The fifth car produced by the Solar Motion Team is Shock Hazard.
This car was designed to be a high-performance car with a racing
life-span of three years. The vehicle is of a three-wheel design,
with the rear wheel powered by a wheel-hub motor from New Generation
Motors. The chassis of the car uses a crom-moly steel tube space
frame to support the solar array and under-fairing. The array is
comprised of aluminum, Nomex honeycomb and carbon fiber. The lower
fairing is made of the same materials to create a rigid, but
aerodynamically efficient shell around the car. The car is slated to
race in the FormulaSun Grand
Prix '04 & '05 in Topeka, KS, as well as the
American Solar
Challenge 2005 from Chicago, Il to Claremont, CA along Route 66. |
