The
South Dakota Alpha Chapter is located in Rapid City, SD at the South
Dakota School of Mines & Technology. It was the one-hundred
and sixty fourth chapter established in April 22, 1974. It was
converted on this date from the Sigma Tau Fraternity when the two
organizations merged. The basis of this merger was the conviction
that a single, strong honor society would better serve the engineering
profession. The ninety-first national convention was held on
October 24-26, 1996 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
