Society of Women Engineers (SWE) The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders. Center for Advanced Multidisciplinary Projects (CAMP) As part of the educational experience, South Dakota Mines offers students a unique opportunity to participate in a student-centered, hands-on, engineering program called CAMP, the Center of Excellence for Advanced Multidisciplinary Projects. A key part of this experience involves designing, building, testing, and competing in a variety of engineering challenges. If you are interested in participating on a CAMP team, or starting a new CAMP team, please contact Kimberly Osberg(kimberly.osberg@sdsmt.edu)

Greek Life Currently South Dakota Mines is home to two nationally recognized Sororities. Beta Delta Mu and Alpha Delta Pi. Alpha Chi Sigma is a co-ed fraternity. Conference Support

Historically WiSE has supported students to attend national conferences, such as the Society of Women Engineers conference. This year we were able to fund 5 students to travel to Nashville for WE15.

Self Defense Class

About Ben:

Guro Ben Geary has been training in the Martial Arts since 1994. He has several years experience in hand-to-hand combat and in the instruction of self-defense through the Martial Arts.. He is a 1st degree Black Belt in Sikaran, and a 3rd degree Black Belt in the Sanano Martial Arts System.. Guro Geary has been a certified instructor through Grandmaster Sanano since 2013 and has been a Kasama through the Mataw-Guro Association since 2011. His instruction follows in the steps laid by Grandmaster Andy Sanano which emphasizes individual development of self-discipline, awareness, and respect for self and others as well as the values and attitudes necessary for the proper application of the Martial Arts. He teaches the Sanano Philosophy, “Learn to Fight, Not to Fight.”
