The Science, Technology, and Society (STS) degree combines a strong science background with a firm grounding in environmental, social, and science policy issues. Students pursue a science concentration or a minor in a science field, which is complemented
by studies in areas such as political science, history, humanities, English, and philosophy. Working closely with your advisor, you can tailor a curriculum that provides a broad base of multidisciplinary knowledge and promotes strong analytical and
communication skills. Coursework will prepare you for additional study in law school, public policy and community development programs, or even accelerated teacher certification programs. Potential careers include positions in community and government
agencies, in science and technology companies, in the military, or as law enforcement officers, science and math teachers, and science lobbyists. See the course catalog or contact your advisor for requirements, worksheets, and additional information.

Consult the admissions/application web pages of the professional programs for information on required pre-requisite courses and admissions tests, application procedures, and application deadlines. Some professional/graduate programs will not accept AP
or CLEP credits, online courses, or correspondence courses for the core science and math pre-requisite requirements. Many programs also require that all pre-requisite coursework be completed within a certain period of time, e.g., within 5 years prior
to application. Policies vary by school and program. Be sure you know the requirements.
