Medical/Health Sciences

Pre-professional health science students (IS-HLTH) take rigorous science and math courses from across the curriculum to prepare for admission to graduate and professional programs. Most post-baccalaureate programs in medicine and health science require or recommend a basic sequence of pre-requisite courses—all of them available at SD Mines. Add wisely chosen elective courses, meaningful volunteer and leadership experiences, the observation of professionals in action, and strong scores on the required admissions tests, and you're on your way to a career in the health sciences.

Our BSIS curriculum, with its strong foundation in the sciences, will prepare students in this specialization for a variety of graduate and professional programs, including the following. Click on the links below for requirements, worksheets and additional information.

Important Note

Consult the admissions/application web pages of the professional programs for information on required pre-requisite courses and admissions tests, application procedures, and application deadlines. Some professional/graduate programs will not accept AP or CLEP credits, online courses, or correspondence courses for the core science and math pre-requisite requirements. Many programs also require that all pre-requisite coursework be completed within a certain period of time, e.g., within 5 years prior to application. Policies vary by school and program. Be sure you know the requirements.
