Activities and Organizations

We describe education at Mines as "high-tech and hands-on," and contributing to the many opportunities for hands-on projects and endeavors here are more than a hundred student organizations. While there are specific student organizations for mining students, be sure to check out Mines Link for information on all the student organization opportunities at SD Mines. You might want to forge hot metal with the blacksmithing club, race a concrete canoe with one of the CAMP teams, practice "relaxation through annihilation" with the Mines Gaming Network, or be a mentor through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Campus Kids group.

Other kinds of opportunities await as well. Visit our Mines Advantage page, our Minors and Certificates list, and our Co-curricular Programs page to learn more.

Meet Mining Student

Rahel Dean-Pelikan

Not many students can say they're both a cheerleader and a member of the Mining & Mucking team.  Also active in our WiSE (Women in Science and Engineering) program, Rahel makes the most of many student opportunities here at Mines.
