Requirements and Deadlines

Graduate Education Admission Requirements

To compete successfully for admissions, you should have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater. GRE scores are required, but no minimum is currently specified. An appropriate bachelor's degree in biomedical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical engineering, materials science and engineering, or another related discipline is required.

A minimum TOEFL score of 560 (on the paper-based test) or 220 (on the computer-based test) is required for international students from countries where English is not an official language.

Applicants with advanced undergraduate standing, predoctoral award, master of engineering (ME), master of science (MS), doctor of medicine (MD), or equivalent degrees will be eligible to apply directly to the doctoral program. Under these circumstances, a maximum of 24 credits of graduate coursework can be applied toward the doctoral program, unless additional credits are allowed by the director and approved by the dean of graduate education.
