Summer Camp:  Fossils

Fossils . . . Molding . . . Casting . . . OH MY!

If you are into paleontology enough to work in the field alongside professors and graduate students, and roll up your sleeves as you prep, collect, mold, and cast fossils for examination in the lab, then this camp is for you!

The resources of the brand-new state-of-the-art James E. Martin Paleontology Research Laboratory makes offering this unique camp possible. You will live on campus and, literally, walk the path of paleontologists in the Black Hills and Badlands! The curriculum is designed and taught by full-time engineering and science faculty members. Senior-level students and graduate students will live and work with you all week. You will discuss science and engineering careers with School of Mines faculty members and alumni, and visit work sites where you might use your expertise should you decide to take your studies further.

Students will get a chance to assist School of Mines faculty in fossil collection. Campers' discoveries will be credited and stored in the SD Mines' collections indefinitely - your very own documented contribution to the study of paleontology!
