Geology and Geological Engineering Camp
Water is key to human life and ensuring that clean freshwater resources remain available represents a great challenge in the modern world. In this camp, students will learn about both the natural and human-caused processes that control water quality
with a focus on the Black Hills region. Camp activities will include:
- An overview of the hydrologic cycle and where water comes from
- Hands-on experience collecting and interpreting water quality data from local streams
- Investigation of the chemical processes controlling water quality
- Discussion of techniques used to clean up contaminated water resources
The Water World summer day camp will also give high school students insight into career opportunities focused on water, both globally and locally. We will also get to interact with local professionals involved in water-based careers.
Join our Department of Geology and Geological Engineering faculty for this exciting summer day camp! Camp will run 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Lunch will be provided for campers.
Thursday at 1:00 PM we invite parents to come on campus for a cookie reception followed by a campus visit for the family.
