Summer Camp: It's Rocket Science

We've all heard the phrase, "it's not rocket science," but in our case, IT IS!

Join our Physics department as they discover the future to the time-space continuum (and more).

Physics is the foundation of science.  Every other field builds upon its concepts and principles.  If you know physics, you know how to model and predict a system.  If you can predict a system, you can control it.  In other words, physics teaches you how to control the universe!!! Muhahahah.... "ahem", uh, as I was saying;

In this camp we'll explore some of the many fields of physics, from Newtonian mechanics and the physics of weather systems; to particle physics, neutrinos and the search for dark matter; to astrophysics.  We will visit state-of-the art research laboratories, conduct our own experiments, and use what you learn to construct and launch your own rocket!

ENROLLMENT PROCESS:

While completing the online registration, the student will be required to submit a 500-800 word essay that explains:

  1. Who you are as a student
  2. Why coming to this camp is important to you
  3. What your expectations are for the camp
  4. What attributes you bring to the camp

Additionally, we ask for the contact information (name, email and phone number) of a trusted teacher be provided so that we can ask that they complete a brief recommendation survey for the student.

It's important to note that acceptance into the program is not guaranteed. Evaluation and notification will take place for each student after the registration form, personal essay and teacher recommendation are completed and returned to the Summer Camps Coordinator.

Registration opens after Sept. 1st.
