FAQs:

  • What if my camper needs to bring along required medications? All medications must be self-administered by the camper. If refrigerated storage is required, please let camp staff know in advance.
  • What is the weather like in Rapid City? Summertime in Rapid City brings variable weather with temperatures mostly in the 70s and 80s during the day and cooler temps in the evenings. Campers should be prepared for variable weather with occasional rain and thunderstorms.
  • What does the cost of camp include? It includes room and board, camp activities, and evening activities. It does not include money for souvenirs or snacks outside of the meal plan. If you wish your student to have spending money, please make sure to send it with them.
  • Are campers on their own during the week? No! Campers are supervised the entire week by faculty, camp staff, and camp counselors. Our camp counselors live in the residence halls with students throughout the entirety of camp and escort students to all camp activities. Camp staff and faculty are with students at any point that camp counselors may not be. All camp staff help campers feel safe and comfortable on our campus.
  • Is it safe living on campus during the week? Yes! Students live in residence halls that are only accessible to campers and camp staff during camp weeks. Each student has a key card that allows them entry to the  main building, residence hall floor, and their individual room. Camp counselors live on the same floors as campers throughout the week. Campus Safety monitors campus 24 hours a day. Rest assured, our small campus is the perfect place for campers to safely reside during their week away.

Out-of-area Traveler Information: Rapid City Regional Airport is our local airport when flying into Rapid City. Complimentary airport transportation is available for residential campers on Sunday and Friday of residential camps. Note: Sunday airport transfers are typically only available after 1:00pm local time. Rapid Shuttle, Uber, and Lyft are local transportation services that also provide airport transportation. Please work with camp staff for any special airport pick-up/drop-off needs related to unaccompanied minors or outside of standard pick-up hours.

Room & Board Information:

  • Residential campers stay in one of our campus residence halls and are housed in double-occupancy rooms with another camper. All rooms are air-conditioned. Single rooms may be available for an additional fee. Please consult with our staff regarding single room availability.
  • Camp counselors live in the residence halls with students and supervise them throughout the entirety of camp. All camp counselors and staff are CPR/First Aid certified and trained on all campus safety policies. They are there to ensure the safety of your campers, while also making sure they are having a fun time!
  • Linens are provided and include sheets, a pillow, a lightweight blanket, and 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 washcloth.
  • Dining services can accommodate all dietary needs and food allergies. Please ensure these needs are communicated to Youth Programs staff via the appropriate required form.
