Events and Activities

Throughout the year, pre-health students can attend a variety of workshops, informational sessions, professional development opportunities, discussion panels, and other events hosted by the Student Success Center, the Future Health Science Professionals student organization, and off-campus partners, such as the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and Regional Health.

Weekly Events

Mystery Case Mondays/Closed Case Fridays: Case studies are posted on The Atrium Monday mornings. The diagnoses are posted on Fridays.

The Weekly Anatomical Language Challenge (WALC): Held Wednesdays during the Fall Semester. Students can take a quiz, climb the leaderboard, and compete for prizes as they put their knowledge of anatomy to the test.

Grand Rounds at Rapid City Regional Hospital: Held 7:30am-8:30am on Friday mornings. Topics vary each week.

Periodic Events

Study Skills Workshops: Held at various times throughout the semester to teach students how to maximize their studying efficiency. 

Annual Events

Health Professions Week: Held in early November. Provides information about health careers and opportunities for students to interact with local health care professionals. Typically includes speakers, panels, meet-and-greets, a virtual fair, and career exploration information.

Health Careers Expo: Held during the Spring Semester. Provides information about health careers to SD Mines students and prospective students. Typically includes speakers, panels, exhibits, and networking opportunities.
