Student Success Center Director

Lisa has worked at SD Mines in various roles, her most recent being the Director of the WiSE (Women in Science and Engineering) program. She works in partnership with instructors and faculty advisors in each department to support students through the hardest classes at Mines. She relaunched the WiSE program to support women engineering students on campus, and is taking the concept of a proven program to design a customized approach for students at Mines. Lisa has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Black Hills State University and an MBA from Chadron State College. When she’s not helping students out, she likes hanging out with her three boys and watching cat videos on YouTube.

    Student Success Center Advisor (Freshman/Sophomore)

    Aaron joined SD School of Mines August of 2018. He works with students in all areas that affect their success at Mines, to include academic obstacles, time management, goal setting, and other non-academic factors. Aaron also works with our peer mentors to ensure that all incoming students have an automatic connection to their department, the campus, and the Rapid City area. Aaron has a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise & Sports Science from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX. Away from campus, you will find Aaron spending time with his wife and two sons.

      Johnica Morrow

      Pre-Health Pathways Advisor

      Johnica Morrow is the Pre-Health Pathways Advisor. Her role is to assist students interested in healthcare professions with planning a path for their career goals, finding volunteer, research, and shadowing opportunities, preparing for entrance exams, applying to professional schools, and practicing for professional school interviews. She holds a B.S. in Organismal Biology, a M.S. in General Biology, and a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Sciences with a specialization in Applied Ecology. She has experience teaching human biology courses, conducting research, working with human remains, and mentoring students. She is a member of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions.

        Tom Mahon

        Tutoring and Testing Coordinator 

        Tom Mahon has been SD Mines Tutoring and Testing Coordinator since 2015.  He contributes his knowledge and support to help students pursue and achieve their academic goals.  Married to SD Mines Dean of Students, Patricia Mahon, he finds himself involved (as an employee or sometimes a conscripted volunteer) in much that goes on here on campus.  Find Tom in the Tech Learning Center, in the garden level of the Devereaux Library.
