Tutoring and Academic Support
You came to South Dakota Mines to be challenged, but now that challenge is staring you right in the face. College classes may seem significantly harder than what you encountered in high school; or maybe you sailed through your freshman year, and now a
particular course section is giving you trouble. Fortunately, many resources are available for students who need tutoring, coaching or support to help them master concepts and coursework.
Start early . . . and start at the Vanderboom Office of Student Success!
We have partnered with Hardrocker Success - Navigate to provide a platform where our students can request tutoring help by scheduling appointments. The link to that platform is: Students (sdsmt.edu)
There are several different ways to get tutoring help, including drop-in times, appointment-based tutoring, and Sunday Crunch.
Drop-in Tutoring
Drop-in tutoring is available Monday-Friday, from 12-2pm, 3-5pm and 7-9pm and Sunday from 5-9pm. The table below shows the drop-in schedule. Drop-in tutoring is taking place in the Vanderboom Office of Student Success Active Learning Classroom
and Slide Rule Math Lab.

Appointment-based Tutoring
Tutors through the Vanderboom Office of Student Success at the South Dakota Mines are available to be booked for individual sessions on the Hardrocker Success - Navigate platform. If you have any questions about working with these tutors or how to best
navigate the new platform, please email robert.sales@sdsmt.edu or drop in to the Vanderboom Office of Student Success. Finding a tutor is easy with the HSN app - just click "Book an Appointment", select "Tutoring", and select "Course-based
Tutoring". You'll be able to find tutors based on the course you need help with, for the days/times that work with your schedule. Alternatively, if you know the name of a tutor you want to work with, you can enter that tutor's name into the appointment
details and find the courses the tutor is proficient in as well as their schedule.
Sunday Crunch
Our most popular event is back this year. Sunday Crunch is a weekly Sunday night tutoring session that occurs every Sunday from 5-9pm in the Vanderboom Office of Student Success. Come in for some free cereal and milk, and make your way to the tutor you
need for your courses. No need to sign up; this is drop-in.
Tutor.com 24/7 Resource
Students can access tutoring resources 24/7 through Tutor.com by accessing their D2L page of any/all of their Board of Regents classes. Utilizing the Help tab on the Navigation Bar and selecting SDSMT Tutor.com then entering student credentials (log-in info), accesses this service.
