Q. Favorite spot on campus?
Einstein’s Bros. Bagels!

Q. Favorite invention?
The radio. Music makes me happy!

Q. Best advice you've received about college?
Live abroad. I participated in an exchange program during my undergraduate degree and it was such a broadening experience. You don't have to study abroad a whole semester; just find a short spring or summer program that is more your style.

Q. Favorite invention?
Cameras, certainly. This world is a pretty wonderful place, especially if you learn to see its magic from new a perspective.

Q. Favorite spot on campus?
I think the Paleontology Research Lab is so cool. From the giant map of SD and prehistoric animals that greet you, to getting to see people meticulously working on specimens, PRL is really fascinating.

Q. Favorite spot on campus?
The Quad.

Q. Best advice you’ve received about college:
In the words of one of my favorite authors, “it would be a crime not to venture out.” Take advantage of the opportunities that come your way—there is no better time to find out where your passions lie, to meet new people, and to get outside of your comfort zone and really become who you were always meant to be.

Q. Favorite invention?
The Spork

Q. Favorite SD Mines tradition?
Signing Senior Hats. The cap itself is modeled after the old miner hats where a lantern is mounted in the front. To me, it represents success after a long, hard, struggle and having the people who helped you along the way sign it, is the best feeling. I still have both my Freshman Beanie and my Senior Hat.

Q. Describe Mines in 5 words or less?
Best experience ever. Worth it.

Q. Best advice you have received about college?
You can do so much with your experience at SD Mines. Use internships to decided what you like. Not liking an experience is OK. Chat with your advisors to find a career path you can be passionate about pursuing. Follow your bliss..

Q. Favorite spot on campus?
The picnic tables outside the Martin Paleontology Research Laboratory. It’s a nice quiet sunny spot where I can eat lunch and read a book. From the outside of the building you can see a family of brontotheres donated by the Field Museum in Chicago. It’s really cool to see in person. Research Laboratory is also a short walk from the Museum of Geology which is an amazing collection of not only fossils, but also minerals. There aren’t many places in the Midwest where a person can see a fossilized oreodont fetus, a 30 foot marine reptile AND florescent minerals in one spot.
