Spring Break 2024

All residence halls (Palmerton, Connolly, Peterson, Placer) close Saturday, March 9 at noon for Spring Break. Residence halls will reopen Sunday, March 17 at 8am. Rocker Square Apartments do not close.

Students who need to stay in the halls over break for should complete the online application by March 1 at noon. The cost of staying over break is nightly fee (see application for details). Any submission after March 1, 2024 is subject to a $25 late submission fee. immediate approval and access within 2 business days is not guaranteed. Dining Services will not be open, with the exception of the 24/7 Market at Rocker Square. 

Students on campus for participation in departmental employment, NCAA in-season athletics, academic coursework requiring physical presence are eligible to receive a 75% discount for dates they are required to be on campus. Residence Life will contact the listed supervisor, faculty member, or coach to confirm required presence and dates. To receive the 75% discount, the application must be submitted, and confirmation received from the supervisor, faculty member, or coach before noon on March 1, 2023.

Please refer to this checklist for specific items in your residence hall.  In general, all students must ensure the following is done before leaving for break:

• Close and lock all windows
• Close drapes/blinds
• Set thermostat to 60 degrees and "auto" - or what is applicable to your building
• Remove all perishable items and clean room 
• Remove all trash (each bag left for staff to remove is $20)
• Turn-off all lights
• Lock doors
  

Note: Residence Life and Facilities staff enter all rooms over break for health/safety checks plus to perform preventative maintenance and to ensure all items on the checklist are completed. Fines will be issued for items not completed.

Pre-Spring Break Health & Safety Inspections

Residence Life staff will stop by each residential room to perform our semesterly Health & Safety Inspections between Sunday, March 3 and Thursday, March 7, 2024. While residents do not need to be present, we do prefer at least one resident be present to address any concerns found.

We will address health, safety, security, and maintenance issues during our check. This includes prohibited items, propped doors or disassembled closers, access to exits,  general cleanliness, excess trash and odors, unattended appliances, fire and electrical hazards, unsafe lofts or furniture, and evidence of unapproved animals.
