Research areas remain broad covering all aspects of geological engineering and geologic sciences. Geological Engineering: Recent projects have included geomechanical assessment of fine-grained materials, including claystone to fine sandstone, shale, and marl. Slope stability modeling utilized geomechanical properties and climate to create potential stability scenarios. Currently, a sedimentological characterization of a thin, coarse-grained clastic sand bed in a marine shale is being conducted. This unit was deposited in the Western Interior Cretaceous Seaway, potentially by an impact-generated tsunami wave crossing the sea.
