2019 Graduate Women in Science National Conference

Call for abstracts for the 2019 Graduate Women in Science National Conference "Communication Science to Connect, Lead, and Empower" located at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City, SD, on Saturday, June 22. Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) is an organization that connects, leads, and empowers women in science. Since the first chapter was established in 1921, GWIS has grown to reach women across the United States and the globe.

Conference Highlights Include:
  • Pre-Conference networking event. Includes a scenic drive through the Black Hills, a wine tasting dinner at Prairie Berry Winery,  and a visit to Mount Rushmore.
  • Science Communication Workshop to enhance your science and engineering communication skills and to effectively engage audiences of all ages in your area of expertise in collaboration with the South Dakota Discovery Center and the NSF-funded Portal to the Public.
  • An underground tour of the Sanford Underground Research Facility located in Lead, South Dakota.
  • Multiple opportunities to see rocks, minerals, and fossils on tours at the Museum of Geology at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology!

GWIS Black Hills is accepting abstracts for lightning talks and posters showcasing STEM research. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows who present a poster are eligible to win prizes.
