Hurricane Dorian Discussion

Hurricane Dorian, now a major hurricane in the western Atlantic Ocean, is likely to impact the northern Bahamas this weekend before impacting portions of Florida and the southeastern US next week. The SDSM&T Weather Club in association with the Program in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences will present a special weather discussion regarding the impacts and potential track of Dorian. Uncertainty remains in the forecast for this hurricane. Several weather models show Dorian making landfall as a major hurricane near the Florida Space Coast early on Tuesday then moving north and east along areas of coastal Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina before moving back out to sea. Other weather models are showing Dorian staying just east of the Florida/Southeast US coastline keeping the most significant portions of the storm over the ocean. This discussion will present the most current information available on the forecast track.
