The above figures are estimates. Actual expenses will vary per student depending on credit hours, discipline fees, room/board selections, etc.

Rounding for Tuition/Fees and campus Room/Board is to the nearest $10.

On-Campus room estimate of $4580 is the average of all residence hall and apartment options  from fall 2017.

* Beginning with fall 2018, new or transfer students in the following award categories are also eligible for the SD resident tuition rate: Nebraska Advantage and Colorado Excellence. Hardrocker Heritage Award recipients also qualify for the SD Resident tuition rate.

** Minnesota Reciprocity rates are generally determined late summer.  Like the 2017-2018 academic year in which the Minnesota Reciprocity rate was the same as for South Dakota residents, the Tuition Rate noted above is estimated to be the same again for 18-19 until the change, if any, is known.

*** WUE: Western Undergraduate Exchange Program - includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. New freshmen and transfer students beginning fall 2016 are eligible for this program.

The above estimate for Fees reflects those fees that are both mandatory and common for the majority of students.  Your actual charges will likely be different than stated above based upon the actual number of credit hours you are enrolled in.
