RAPID CITY, S.D. (Nov. 27, 2017) – Community members are invited to vote on their favorite trees at the annual holiday Parade of Trees from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 through Friday, Dec.1 in the Surbeck Center at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Cookies and hot cider will be provided throughout these days.
The annual Parade of Trees is sponsored by the Student Activities and Leadership Center, which is asking the public to bring canned food donations as the price of admission. Canned goods will benefit the campus student food pantry, which is low on supplies
This event typically draws between 25 and 30 organizations, each striving to outdo one another and produce the most creative and festive tree of the season. This year’s theme is “Star Wars,” with the decorations judged by three people to assess each team’s design in various categories. The public vote will distinguish which team wins the “People’s Choice Award” for the contest. The winners of each category will be announced on Friday after the voting has closed.
