South Dakota School of Mines & Technology’s Museum of
Geology is celebrating Museum
Day with behind-the-scenes tours of the Paleontological
Research Laboratory (PRL) and events for all ages. Take this
opportunity to see how fossils are cared for by our expert staff and students. The
PRL is opening for special weekend hours on Saturday, Sept. 22, with guided
tours from 9 a.m. to1 p.m. for this event.
The Museum of Geology is always free and open
to the public. This year's Museum Day celebration is hosted by the Smithsonian.
Those interested can find more information on the Museum of Geology
Facebook Page here.
The Museum Day
celebration coincides with a Go To Mines event which draws
hundreds of high
school students and their families to SD Mines. During Go To Mines, prospective
students tour departments, residence halls and other facilities and meet
faculty and current students.
