SD Mines Hosts its Largest Spring Career Fair Ever

Over 1,000 Mines students attended the 2019 Spring Career Fair.  They met with employers including 3M, Cargill, Caterpillar, Garmin, Kiewit, Nucor and Union Pacific as well as regional companies and engineering firms. In all, 113 employers from 24 states, including 47 from South Dakota, were on hand to visit with Mines students.

South Dakota School of Mines & Technology hosted 113 employers for the annual spring Career Fair. The fair was held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the King Center in the Goodell Gym. To see photos from the day, visit the SD Mines Facebook page.

Over 1,000 Mines students attended, networking with employers including 3M, Cargill, Caterpillar, Garmin, Kiewit, Nucor and Union Pacific as well as regional companies and engineering firms. In all, 113 employers from 24 states, including 47 from South Dakota, were on hand to visit with Mines students. South Dakota employers include Black Hills Corporation, Daktronics, Raven Industries, Regional Health, RESPEC, Sanford Health and Vishay. SD Mines plays an important role in helping the state meet its workforce needs. In the past five years, 266 Mines graduates accepted jobs with 129 employers in South Dakota. Twenty-one of the employers took part in their first career fair at Mines. In addition, many of the employers are stayed to conduct next-day interviews of students for both internships and full-time positions.

SD Mines graduates continue to be in demand, with 77 percent landing at least one paid internship before graduation, a 97 percent job placement rate and an average starting salary of $61,300.
