Darcy Briggs, Ph.D., is the new associate vice president of academic affairs
at South Dakota Mines.

Mines has named Darcy Briggs, Ph.D., the new associate vice president of academic
affairs. Briggs will serve in the Office of the Provost under Dr.
Lance Roberts.
Dr. Briggs began her career in higher education in
1998 and over the last 23 years has worked at two-year and four-year, public
and private institutions. She brings a breadth of experience to South Dakota
Mines in both student and academic affairs. Briggs is from South Dakota and
earned her bachelor's degree in management at Northern State University before
earning a master of public administration at the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas and a master of education at Regis University. She earned her Ph.D. in leadership
from the University of the Cumberlands in 2017.
“I am grateful to have been selected as the next associate
vice president of academic affairs at Mines. There are so many exciting things
currently happening at the institution and planned for the future, and I am
thrilled for the opportunity and look forward to working with students,
faculty, and staff,” says Briggs.
In her free time Briggs enjoys staying busy and
being outside. She can usually be found doing home improvements, enjoying
the outdoors with family and friends and volunteering for organizations
that support veterans and their families.
Briggs takes over for Dr. Kate Alley who is retiring
after 20 years of service to South Dakota Mines.
