RAPID CITY, S.D. (Oct. 24, 2017) – The tenth annual Halloween-themed “Night at the Museum” will be hosted at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Museum of Geology from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.
Children and adults alike are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes for trick or treating in the museum. Members of the South Dakota Mines Paleo Club will host hands-on educational activities and games surrounded by the museum’s mounted skeletons and other fossils of millions-of-years-old dinosaurs, mammals and marine reptiles.
The Museum of Geology is located on the third floor of the O’Harra Building on the SD Mines campus. There is no charge. Up to 300 people attend “Night at the Museum” each year.
The museum offers exhibits focusing on paleontology and mineralogy, with displays that feature meteorites and a fluorescent mineral room. For additional information visit the museum online.
