The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology,
Friends of the Devereaux Library and the Elks Theatre will host the 25th
annual Nostalgia Night Film Series: “Picture Perfect,” Jan. 13 to March 17.
This year’s
series brings 10 classic films that were recognized for outstanding
cinematography.
Each film is
shown at the historic Elks Theatre downtown. Proceeds of the annual event will
support Devereaux Library at SD Mines.
This year’s
series includes the following films, each shown at 7:15 p.m. on Sundays.

Jan.
13: “Murder
on the Orient Express”
- All aboard! Join an
all-star cast travelling through an Agatha Christie mystery. This 1974 delight
stars Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery and many, many more.

Jan.
20:“Gaslight”
- Splendid performances
by Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman will keep you on the edge of your seat!
This 1944 thriller never grows old.

Jan.
27:“Network”
- Nominated for ten Academy Awards.
The 1976 blockbuster stars Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch, and
Robert Duvall. This brilliant satire is a must see!

Feb. 3: “The Talk of the Town”
- Cary Grant and Jean Arthur star in
this witty 1942 romantic love triangle. Seven Oscar nominations make this a
sure winner.

Feb. 10:“King Solomon’s Mines”
- Don’t miss this majestic film.
Superb performances by Deborah Kerr and Stewart Granger make this 1950 classic
one of the most masterful adventures ever filmed.

Feb. 17: “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial”
- The
beloved extra-terrestrial visits the silver screen once more. Let this
heart-warming 1982 blockbuster enchant you again.

Feb. 24: “Sahara”
- Humphrey
Bogart commands an Army patrol lost in the desert. Bogie and his buddies face
off with an entire Nazi battalion in this exciting 1943 World War II film.

March 3:
“The Poseidon Adventure”
- Award
winning special effects - nine Oscar nominations! Ocean liner vs tidal wave in
this 1972 extravaganza. Will Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine and fellow travelers
survive?

March 10:
“Lilies of the Field”
- Sidney
Poitier won his only Academy Award for this 1963 gem. This moving film is sure
to touch you.

17: “Meet Me in St. Louis”
- Judy
Garland and Margaret O’Brien star in this 1944 musical that will leave you with
a song in your heart and a smile on your face.
Season tickets are $50 and available
at the Devereaux Library on the SD Mines campus; Elks Theatre, 512 6th

Tickets for
individual films will be available at the door the evening of the film.
